My child played around in a playpen while I was working 12-hour shifts in sanding floors and removing wallpaper. Ha! All was beginning to fall into place, however it was not quite done. The home would require an enormous amount of work as well as a passion for shopping. My sons, my husband and I searched for hidden gems while at estate sales to reduce my expenses. The weekly ritual was that we would go through estate and garage sales on Thursdays and Saturdays buying a mixture of new and old pieces. I hosted open houses at my house where 1 thousand people would visit over a weekend, and the visitors were able to purchase items on the first floor. Growing Days was founded in my home. Growing Days was more than an incredibly successful business, but also my sweet family. Finding the balance was important for me. I wished to be both a mom as well as a business owner who was successful. Growing Days fit perfectly. Nora, my 4th kid was born in the year 2013. This was an excellent direction for my business, however I was also in need of an escape. I opted to take a little time off from my vintage furniture and stay at home with the kids. It was just what I wanted. However after a few months without a phone, it began to ring. Numerous people reached me seeking advice about home improvement or decorating. Most of them were people who walked into my house during my furniture open houses. I started taking on some clients at a time going at my own pace however it wasn't time before I was running multiple accounts and was running an entire home improvement business. There is a good chance that I would have been laughing if somebody had informed me that my company was to become part of a forthcoming TV show on DIY Network. Even now, when I reflect on the situation I am laughing.
