Jennifer Garner was born on 17 April 1972 in Houston, Texas but was born within Charleston, West Virginia. William John Garner is her father. He worked as chemical engineers for Union Carbide. Her mother Patricia Ann taught at a local college. She earned a degree with a chemical engineering degree to follow her father. In order to follow her dream of becoming actress, she relocating into New York to try her chances in the film industry. The restaurant she worked in was while appearing in Broadway plays. She had a cameo role in the television series "Felicity." (It was on that show when she met her first husband, Scott Foley.) She got her big break in the action thriller "Alias." Garner's first leading role was the highly acclaimed romantic comedy "13 Going on 30." She portrayed the role of a teenager caught locked in the body the 30-year-old. Garner selected Gary Winick as the director of the film. They continued looking for roles until Winick's passing in 2011. Garner was appointed artist ambassador to Save the Children U.S.A. The program focuses on the importance of nutrition, literacy and early education. From 2014 onwards, Garner has been a participant on the trustees' board of this organization, pushing for early learning for children. In her role as an ambassador for the organization, Garner frequently visits with families involved in the organisation's Early Steps to School Success program that guides parents on ways to assist the children of the early years learn.
